None of these jump out at me as having any potential boosting effect on a stimulant stack.ĭoes anyone know what role aspirin plays and why it would be considered beneficial to take together with ephedrine and caffeine? No literature I can find talks specifically about what each of the ingredients contributes to the stack, and it's therefore extremely difficult to figure out exactly what the purpose of adding aspirin to it would be.Īspirin's mechanisms of action are so varied that they have their own entire Wiki article separate from the main Aspirin article. Obviously somebody must have originally thought of mixing aspirin into a stimulant stack for one reason or another, so I'm sure there's literature out there to explain why and how it compliments these other ingredients, but after extensive Googling I'm at a loss. What I'm struggling to understand is where aspirin comes into this. So in other words, from my understanding, the EC part of the stack is fairly straightforward - ephedrine blocks the transporters for norepinephrine and to a lesser extent dopamine, and caffeine then causes these neurotransmitters to be released in higher than normal quantities, leading to a prolonged stimulant effect which is more pronounced and longer lasting than taking either substance by itself. To the best of my knowledge, ephedrine in this context primarily functions as a weak NDRI - it prevents the reuptake of dopamine and norepinephrine once it's been released in the brain, causing it to stick around and continue to stimulate neurons long after the brain would have liked it to.Ĭaffeine indirectly (and only mildly) promotes the release of dopamine through its inhibition of adenosine receptors, which is well known. It was banned way back in and around 2004 IIRC, so it's possible that younger users here may not have heard of it - it's essentially a mixture of ephedrine, caffeine, and aspirin. The ECA stack used to be a very popular stimulant for pre workout supplements and so on, but because of various dangerous side effects (including reported deaths from cardiovascular events) it's now completely illegal in most countries. ![]() Related Subreddits /r/AskDrugnerds /r/Neuro /r/Pharmacology /r/DrugDesign /r/TheeHive /r/Scholar /r/PsychedelicStudies Independent Scientific Committee on Drugs Neurotransmitters & Drugs Chart HTML5 NMR spectrum generator Strictly no medical advice questions.ĭatabases Erowid MAPS Lycaeum The Vespiary Questions go in /r/askdrugnerds or /r/drugs.
